Kids Promise House #63 Brings Hope to a Family in Need

On July 19, 2025, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong and her family received their new home in Hung Loi Dong Hamlet, Long Hung B Commune, Lap Vo District, Dong Thap Province. Mrs. Hong, 76 years old, dreamed of having a solid and cozy home she could enjoy with her children and grandchildren who live with her.

Mrs. Hong shares a home with her two sons, Mr. Oanh and Mr. Doi, and one granddaughter, Ms. Huong. Both sons were previously married, but their marriages ended due to difficult circumstances and living in poverty. As a result, Mr. Doi and Mr. Oanh returned home, and the family now lives together.

Employment and income are ongoing challenges that have prevented the family from improving their home or making repairs.

Mr. Oanh became disabled after an accident and could no longer work. Meanwhile, the family relies on Mr. Doi’s unstable employment as a hired laborer as their primary source of income. The family lives on his daily salary of 300,000 VND when work is available.

Before Kids Promise, the family shared a dilapidated home made only of corrugated iron and pillars. Although it was a gift from benefactors, the home has become run-down over the years and only offers minimal protection from the rain and sun. During storms or bad weather, the home leaks and stays consistently damp, making it an uncomfortable and unsafe environment.

Thanks to Kids Promise, Mrs. Hong received the home she dreamed of.  The new 40m² house offers a spacious and secure environment for Mrs. Hong, her children, and her school-aged grandchildren.

Its tile floor and solid foundation will keep the family warm and dry during the rainy season, while the cold corrugated iron roof and plastered walls will provide stability and security.

The new home will be life-changing for the 76-year-old grandmother and her family. Not only is it a place to shelter from the elements, but it also marks a new chapter of hope and determination for the family.
