Back-to-School Program Sets Students Up for Success

Going back to school should be an exciting time of the year for students, but it can be difficult in communities with limited resources. For students at Trinh Phu 3 Primary School in the Trinh Phu Commune, Ke Sach District, Soc Trang Province of Vietnam, this year will be different thanks to Kids Promise. 

Each year, Kids Promise strives to make a difference for underprivileged students through its “Back to School” program. On September 6, 2025, Kids Promise supplied the students of Trinh Phu 3 Primary School with much-needed supplies and created a library that will help students thrive not just this year, but for years to come. 

Addressing Barriers to Education

Families who work for hire or work in the fields often have unstable incomes. This can make it difficult for students to attend classes regularly or keep up with schoolwork. It can also be challenging for families to afford uniforms, books, and school supplies. 

Many students also walk to school, which is difficult in the remote area where Trinh Phu 3 Primary School is located. Children with long travel distances may struggle to attend class regularly, and inclement weather also presents challenges for students who need to walk to school.

School Supplies for Success

Trinh Phu 3 Primary School has more than 150 students ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school has been recently renovated to create a safe and clean environment for classes. 

Although the school has been recently renovated, students still do not have all the resources they need for their education. Basic learning tools like notebooks, paper, writing tools, textbooks, and workbooks are all essential supplies, and not all students have access to these. 

To address these needs, Kids Promise gave each student at Trinh Phu 3 Primary School the basic tools they need for success. This includes school supplies, a water bottle, and a backpack for carrying their supplies. Kids Promise also gave each student a raincoat, which will make traveling to school easier during the rainy season. 

A Library for Learning

In addition to school supplies, Kids Promise also created a library for students at Trinh Phu 3 Primary School. This will allow students to borrow textbooks and other essential learning materials. Not only will this help current students, but future students will benefit from the library as well.

Bikes for Long Commutes

With a size of 26.5 square kilometers, some students living in Trinh Phu Commune have a long walk to school. This can make it difficult to attend classes regularly. To address this issue, Kids Promise provided some students with bicycles so they no longer have to walk to school.
