Charity House 67 Helps a Family Facing Hardship

On January 10, 2026, Kids Promise officially presented House No. 67 to the family of Mr. Chenh Ly Cong and Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Nhung in Phú Vinh commune, Định Quán district, Đồng Nai province.

Local government representatives and neighbors gathered to celebrate as this deserving family of five received the keys to their new home. The ceremony was filled with joy as everyone witnessed a family’s hope of safe, stable housing become a reality.

A Family in Need

Before receiving assistance from Kids Promise, Mr. Cong, Ms. Nhung, and their three school-age children lived in very difficult conditions. They shared a makeshift home constructed from scrap wood, mixed tree trunks, and patched corrugated iron sheets.

With weak beams, unstable pillars, and a leaking roof, the shack provided little protection during storms, and the damp ground created uncomfortable living conditions. Despite this, it was the only shelter Mr. Cong and Ms. Nhung had for themselves and their children in Kindergarten, grade 6, and grade 8.

Struggles Shaped by the Pandemic

Like many families, the COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected Mr. Cong and Ms. Nhung. Before the outbreak, they had traveled to Ho Chi Minh City in search of work. But when jobs disappeared, they were forced to return to their hometown and build a temporary shelter so their children could attend school locally.

Since then, life has remained a daily struggle. Ms. Nhung works as a day laborer at a garment factory far from home, waking early each morning for physically demanding and unstable work. When work is available, Mr. Cong earns income working at a scrap metal shop and taking on various odd jobs within the community.

Even with these challenges, Mr. Cong and Ms. Nhung remain committed to their children’s education. They understand that school offers their kids the opportunity for a better future, and they work hard to keep all three children in class and focused on their studies.

Recognizing the family’s circumstances, Kids Promise stepped in to build Charity House No. 67 on the family’s existing land. The newly constructed 48-square-meter home features a solid concrete foundation, brick columns, tile flooring, a corrugated iron roof, and fully plastered walls.

This sturdy home protects against the elements and creates a healthier environment for the children to grow, study, and dream without fear.

A New Beginning for Hope

For Mr. Cong, Ms. Nhung, and their children, Charity House No. 67 represents more than a shelter. It marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunity. With a stable home as their foundation, the family can now look toward the future with confidence, knowing they have a safe place to call their own.
